Work a ski season in the French Alps

You fill in the visa form at the kitchen table, unsure which box means 'seasonal worker'. Days later you're hauling boots up icy steps before dawn, learning the French word for 'attention' before much else. The wage barely covers a season pass, but the chalet comes with a shared room and a stove, boots drying by the door. Nobody mentions the hours peeling potatoes for guests who complain about the wifi. Some mornings, before the lifts open, the snow outside is untouched, blue-white, and entirely yours.
