Sail into Stockholm through its archipelago at dawn
The corridor is quiet at 5 a.m., just the hum of the engines and a vending machine dispensing coffee that tastes faintly of cardboard. Out on deck the mist lifts in patches, and the first island appears almost without announcement: a red cottage with white trim, a rowing boat pulled up on the rock beside it. No one else is awake to see it. The ship slows for the narrows, close enough to smell pine and cold water, and on a skerry a heron stands entirely still, watching the hull slide past.
